Plastic Template Gauge (11.05)
The plastic template gauge is a somewhat similar estimating device. Here the series of template figures consist of black outlines embossed on clear plastic. This allows you to place the template over a mounted diamond to compare the outlines with the perimeter of the stone. The holes are not open, so the plastic is placed against the table of the diamond, getting as close to the stone as possible. Again this device is used for rough estimates only.
