Many cutters may be in business for years doing only repairs of small chips, re-cuts (re-faceting a finished stone), and re-polishes on burned stones. At the other extreme, some cutters that work in production shops may only work on rough without ever seeing a re-cut. Typically in larger cutting shops, the process of cutting is broken down into stages.
