Again, the safest approach in making an offer on a stone without a reputable report, is to make it contingent on weight, clarity and color after removing it from the mounting. Of course many sellers will object to this, so the only other safe option is to make your off er based on the worst-case scenario. If the stone is removed from the mounting, make sure there is an understanding as to the party responsible for remounting if a transaction does not occur.♦
