Clarity Grading and Opinion (6.08)

Even in the high technology society we live in today, clarity grading comes down to the opinion of the grader. GIA defines the individual clarity grades in detail but a certain amount of subjectivity remains regardless. For color we have master comparison stones or a colorimeter (discussed in section 7), but with clarity all we have is expert opinion. By taking the opportunity to look at as many diamonds as possible graded by reputable labs, the grading task will begin to fall into place.
