Boiling Individual Diamonds (9.04)
More valuable stones should be boiled individually to avoid scratching each other in the process. With smaller, less valuable stones, you might choose to boil several carats at a time. The size of your beaker and the amount of solution that you mix, will determine how many carats you can boil at one time. If the diamonds take up more than 1/3 of the liquid volume, add more acid solution.
