Examine for Damage Immediately

Check diamond immediately for damage.

Examine the diamond(s) for damage to make sure that the culet, girdle, the sharp corners of a princess cut, or perhaps the ends of a marquis shape, have not been nicked due to mishandling by a previous viewer of the stone. Examine the polish of the diamond to make sure that there are no burned areas due to a torching process by a previous setter where a sale went bad. If the shipping dealer is not immediately made aware of these potential problems, you may be held liable.
