Diamond Thieves Using the Art of Distraction | Be Aware of Distraction

The art of distraction in a jewelry store.

Distractions come in many shapes, but the important point to remember is the idea behind it. The instant a salesperson’s guard is let down, a switch or concealment of merchandise can occur.

A woman drops her purse, emptying all its contents on the floor, thus diverting attention long enough for her to switch a valuable diamond ring.

A man spills his coffee all over the counter, creating enough confusion to pocket a valuable necklace.

A man turns his back, seemingly to show his wife a diamond ring, but a quick switch occurs.
